Crypto news in brief

Binance accused of dodging US regulators. According to reports from Reuters, the giant has set up a platform in the US to keep lawmakers away from its main platform.

Europe wants to ban mining this winter. Under the guise of energy shortages, the European Union is encouraging its members to implement measures targeting cryptocurrency miners.

Layer 2 zkSync is getting ready for the big launch. With just a few days to go before the rollout of its mainnet, zkSync has rolled out proof of validity integration on its testnet.

After The Merge, Ethereum is preparing for the Shanghai hard fork. Thus, the developers have deployed the first testnet allowing to test 6 EIPs that will be included in the next hard fork.

An American company wants to allow us to pay with our Metamask wallet. The company has entered into a partnership with Consensys to connect Metamask to its bank account.

The 6 metrics of the week

➤ $3.8 billion is the amount that could have been stolen via a flaw in the BitBTC bridge. Indeed, this bridge that connects Optimism to Ethereum had a critical bug. Fortunately, the flaw was fixed in time.

260,000 was stolen by several attackers by exploiting an Ethereum Alarm Clock contract. In total, 24 different addresses took advantage of this bug.

➤ $15,000 is the maximum amount of airdrop achieved by the new layer 1 Aptos. Thus, testnet users were able to recover between 150 and 300 APT depending on certain criteria.

➤ 41% is the share of blocks on the Ethereum network that show censorship. Thus, these comply with OFAC recommendations and perform censorship of certain transactions, especially related to Tornado Cash.

➤ $100 million is the amount of money it would take to attack the Aave protocol. A situation considered unlikely by the developers. However, the latter will still put in place certain protections to avoid this disaster.
